In March, Evergreen hosted our first "Evergreen Talks" at Mercy Medical Center. Evergreen Talks is an event that will be held quarterly for all members of our community.


Dr. Tim Powell and Dr. Brittain discussed how to finish well and the importance of end-of-life decision making. Snacks were provided, and we were excited about the number of people who came to our first Talk. It was an enjoyable time of discussion and question/answer time for all.

Dr. Patrick Clyde (Endocrinologist) and Alicia Morrison, FNP will be discussing Diabetes Prevention and Management. 

We welcomed two more providers at the beginning of April. 

Dr. Madhu Kankipati, MD Pediatrician 

Dr. Madhu formerly worked for Centennial Pediatrics. At the start of April, we brought him as one of our new providers and adopted and the building he was working in to form Evergreen's newest branch,                            One of our existing providers, Nicole Engler, FNP moved over to EFM Chapman to work alongside Dr. Madhu and makes up the other half of his care team.

Dr. Taylor formerly will start seeing patients at our                      office on April 17th. Over the next year, he will be seeing his patients while also helping prepare for Evergreen's Residency program that will be launching in 2019. Dr. Taylor will be overseeing this program.

We gained a provider in March.

Matt Stark, clinician, partner and huge Star Wars fan.

Matt grew up in McMinnville, Oregon earning his Eagle Scout at age 17 and then enlisting in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic.  He his Bachler of Science in biology and minoring in chemistry from Oregon State University.  GO BEAVS!  Matt attended Pacific University in Hillsboro, Oregon for his Physician Assistant education and then he commissioned in the United States Navy.  LTJG Stark reported to Naval Hospital Guam in 2009 to work in the Emergency Department, he also spent one tour with 1st Marine Expeditionary Force in Helmond Province Afghanistan.  He is currently the Senior Physician Assistant with the 2-162 Infantry Battalion Oregon Army National Guard.

When not working Matt and his wife, Brooke, enjoy riding their horses, hiking and fishing.  They have one son, two dogs, two horses and love Music on the Half Shell.  His favorite thing to cook is smoked brisket, followed in close second place with cedar plank salmon.  He is active in the Oregon Society of Physician Assistants, National Mounted Police Service, and the National Eagle Scout Association.

Did You Know...

     As a patient of Family Practice, you receive priority access to our Urgent Care if you are a patient of Family Practice. Your Primary Care Provider has work-in appointments daily for their patients who need to be seen for acute issues. When those appointments have been filled for the day, our Urgent Care is available to take care of all your urgent or acute needs. We are able to schedule an appointment for you to be seen in the Urgent Care to reduce your wait time.


     Next time you need to be seen by a provider quickly, call your Primary Care Provider first and see if they can work you in. If their schedule is full,  we will start the internal scheduling process and continue to provide you with the access you deserve as a patient of Evergreen Family Medicine.

Evergreen Family Medicine is a Certified Patient Centered Primary Care Home. 

     A Patient Centered Primary Care Home is dedicated to providing care that is available in multiple forms and at various time to match patient needs. Patients can schedule routine appointments, as well as work-ins or sick visits, to see a provider during business hours.

     Many providers work early or late hours which allows for additional access. Patients are welcome to walk into the office for clinical advice, paying bills, and scheduling appointments. After business hours patients still have access to a provider via the answering service. Additionally, the patient portal is a great resource for patients. The patient portal can be accessed 24/7 so that patients can view and download their health information, request appointments, pay bills, and send messages to their providers’ staff.

how our hospital care works 

Any Family Practice patient who is admitted to Mercy Medical Center for inpatient care should inform the hospital staff who his/her primary care provider is. By doing so, patients will be identified as Evergreen patients and will be seen by one of our physicians who provides hospital care. We have a group of physicians who rotate through a schedule at the hospital during the days and weekends to provide compassionate and knowledgeable care to our patients. If a need arises during the night, care will be provided by one of Mercy Medical Center’s highly trained hospitalists until the Evergreen physician arrives the next day.


As patients are preparing for discharge from the hospital, our Community Care Coordinator will work with the discharging physician and the patient to acquire any needed services and make the discharge process as smooth as possible.


A few days after being discharged from the hospital, patients can expect to be contacted by a staff member from the Transition of Care department. This staff member will check on the patient, reconcile medications, and schedule a follow-up appointment at the office.
