We Say Goodbye For Now...

We say goodbye for now...

Dr. Charles Hundley retired from Evergreen Family Practice on May 23rd, 2019.

"I want to say thank you very much for the honor of allowing me to help you with your care needs and for you sharing your lives with me. This truly has been a blessing. I will miss the practice of medicine, but only because I will miss you; my family, my friends, my patients."

Kaitlyn Bogardas, PA

Kaitlyn was born and raised in Roseburg, Oregon where she graduated from Roseburg High School. She developed an interest in the medical field at a young age and began shadowing Terry Bancroft- PA while attending Umpqua Community College. In 2013, she earned her Bachelor of Science at Oregon State University.

She returned to Roseburg to acquire her patient care prerequisites as a lab assistant and phlebotomist at Mercy Medical Center. She graduated from the physician assistant program at University of California-Davis in 2018. During her program she had the opportunity to attain her family practice clinical experience at Evergreen Family Medicine with Terry Bancroft and other providers. This confirmed her desire to join this practice upon completion of her education.

Kaitlyn’s goal has been to return to the Roseburg area to provide medical care and raise a family. She enjoys camping, fishing, hiking, and traveling with her family.

Amber Miller, DO

Dr. Amber Miller is a board-certified pediatrician returning to the Roseburg area after ten years of living in Alaska. She is delighted to be back here with her three children and to the warmth and sunshine of the Umpqua Valley. Dr. Miller took a few years off of clinical practice to raise her children and is now ready to return to practice. During this time, she stayed current in pediatrics and maintained her Alaska state medical license and board certification in pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).

Dr. Amber Miller grew up in Iowa and attended undergraduate school in Mankato, Minnesota. She completed medical school in Des Moines, Iowa in 2002 and completed her pediatric residency in Detroit, Michigan in 2005.

Dr. Amber Miller enjoys spending time with her children and beagle, and doing anything outdoors. She particularly enjoys hiking, biking, camping, and skiing. She has a slight interest in triathlons despite having a love hate relationship with running. She also enjoys shooting guns but not particularly hunting, and loves fishing but prefers to release most of those beautiful creatures back into their natural homes. She enjoys all kinds of board games and card games and is always looking for someone who knows how to play euchre.

Dr. Amber Miller is excited about seeing patients again in Roseburg and exploring the mountains and Oregon coast with her children.

New Location for EFM West

In March 2019, Evergreen Family Medicine welcomed Dr. Michael Nichols from Park Medical Group.  We acquired the Park Medical location at 1813 West Harvard Avenue, Ste 140.  Dr. Nichols was joined by Dr. Jairus Sathianathan  and Bill Briggs, FNP, from our previous EFM West location on Medical Park Drive the first of April.

An open house celebration welcoming Dr. Nichols and introducing Dr. Sathianathan and Bill Briggs to the patients of Park Medical was held on March 28th at the new Harvard location.

The move was a positive one with improved parking and clinical space, as we expand our primary care capabilities in Douglas County.

Cynthia Kusler, PA, volunteered her time along with
other Evergreen providers.

FAQ's

Common Questions asked by patients:  FAQs

Why am I not able to always see my provider?

The providers at Evergreen work in teams.  There are times when providers are out of the office for Continuing Medical Education, take call in the Hospital, and go on vacation.  During these times, your provider’s team will fill in for them so there is continuity of care from the same team.

I have had numerous provider changes in the last couple of years, why is that?

While we have been very fortunate to recruit many great providers, there have been providers that have left the area for different reasons.  We have also had providers retire recently.  When a provider moves, we must assign their patients to someone else.  We work very hard at recruiting and retaining the top-level providers that we are fortunate to have.  We do not have control over many of these circumstances.

I want to see an MD, why can’t I just choose one?

The providers that have been in practice for a long time have a large patient panel.  When we close a provider’s panel, it is because they have reached the number of patients in their panel that is recommended by the American Academy of Family Physicians.  This recommendation is based off of many factors, including the length of time a patient must wait for an appointment, and the amount of back office work that is generated for those patients.  The providers can only see so many patients in a day.  Again, the MDs are part of the Evergreen Family Medicine “Team Approach” to care, so they are available to answer any questions the other providers may have.

Why can’t I choose my own provider?

We have a New Patient Coordinator that looks at many factors when assigning patients to a provider.  They look at the current panel of patients each provider has by age, insurance, difficulty, and by the number of patients they have.  This is done so that patients have access to care when they need the care.
