John Powell

Dr. John Powell is a board-certified family physician who joined Evergreen Family Medicine in 1997. He completed his undergraduate studies at Willamette University and earned his Doctor of Medicine from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1993. In 1996, he completed a family medicine residency in Phoenix, Arizona.
Dr. Powell became the Chief Executive Officer of Evergreen in 2026. He has previously served as the Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director of Urgent Care and Hospitalist services. He continues to serve as a certified Medical Review Officer and the director of Occuhealth, Evergreen's occupational health division.
He has served in many physician leadership roles throughout the community and local hospitals. He has served on the Board of Directors for Mercy Medical Center, Mercy Foundation, Umpqua Health, Umpqua Health Alliance, and Douglas Community Hospital.
Dr. Powell values Douglas County's rich tradition of community involvement and wonderful citizens. He returned to the Roseburg area with his wife in 1997 and found it an ideal place to raise their children.
