Dr. John Powell is a board-certified family physician who joined Evergreen Family Medicine in 1997. He completed his undergraduate studies at Willamette University, and he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1993. In 1996, he completed a residency in family medicine in Phoenix, Arizona.
Dr. Powell serves as the director for Urgent Care and Hospitalist services for Evergreen Family Medicine. He is a certified Medical Review Officer and director for Occuhealth, Evergreen's occupational health division. He provides a wide spectrum of medical, surgical and hospital care to patients of all ages. He has served in many physician leadership roles throughout the community. He has served on Board of Directors for Mercy Medical Center, Mercy Foundation, Umpqua Health, Umpqua Health Alliance, and Douglas Community Hospital.
He currently serves as the chair for Adult and Family medicine at Mercy Medical Center. He has served on many committees and sub-committees at Mercy including the chairman of the Credentials Committee, Division of Family Medicine and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee at Mercy Medical Center.
Dr. Powell values Douglas County's rich tradition of community involvement and producing wonderful citizens. He returned to the Roseburg area with his wife and two children to enjoy and participate in Douglas County's outstanding legacy.
